Bibleitda Privacy Policy
These are the standards for collecting and using personal information in the Bibleitda app.
In accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea (개인정보 보호법) and other applicable laws, NEWER (뉴어) (the “Company”) has established this Privacy Policy to protect the personal information of users of the smartphone application “Bibleitda (말씀잇다)” (the “Service”) and to handle related concerns promptly.
1. Personal Information We Process and Why
Required items
- Sign-up and login: Social account identifier, name (nickname), email address — to identify members, process sign-up and account deletion, and deliver notices
- Paid services: History of product purchases, gifts, refunds, and cancellations; store transaction identifiers — to verify payments, grant and revoke usage rights, and prevent fraudulent use
- Service usage records: Bible reading history, notes and meditation records, app settings — to provide the Service and store your records
- Automatically collected information: Device model, OS version, language and region, time zone, IP address, app version, access, error, and crash logs, push notification token — to keep the Service stable, analyze statistics, and send notifications
Optional items (only when you use the relevant feature)
- Profile: Phone number, date of birth, profile photo — to manage member information and provide group features
- Church and groups: Church affiliation, group membership information, attendance records — to provide group features and attendance check-in. Because this may include information about religion, it is processed with your separate consent.
- Posts: Posts, comments, and photos written in groups and the community; report history — to provide board features and manage inappropriate posts
- AI features: Questions you enter into the AI and the generated answers — to provide AI answers, keep usage history, and manage usage limits
- Gifts: Information on the member receiving a gift — to deliver gifts
- Customer inquiries: Name, email address, inquiry content, attached images — to respond to inquiries
You can use the Service without providing optional items; only the related features will be restricted.
2. Device Permissions
- Location: When you check in for church attendance, the app checks only on your device whether your current location is near the church. Location coordinates are not sent to or stored on the Company’s servers; only whether you attended is stored.
- Microphone and speech recognition: When you write a note by voice, your device’s speech recognition feature (Apple, Google) converts it into text. The Company does not store the voice itself.
- Photos: When you upload photos to your profile, notes, or posts, only the photos you select are used.
- Notifications: Used to send Service notifications.
You can deny or withdraw permissions at any time in your device settings; in that case, only the related features will be restricted.
3. Retention Period
The Company destroys personal information without delay when you delete your account. However, the following information is kept for the periods below.
- Records of contracts or withdrawal of orders, payments, and supply of goods: 5 years (Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Etc. (전자상거래법))
- Records of consumer complaints or dispute resolution: 3 years (Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Etc.)
- Service access logs: 3 months (Protection of Communications Secrets Act (통신비밀보호법))
- Records of fraudulent use (fraudulent payments or refunds, grounds for suspension): 1 year after account deletion — to prevent recurrence of fraudulent use
4. Destruction of Personal Information
Personal information whose retention period has expired or whose processing purpose has been achieved is destroyed without delay. Electronic files are deleted in a way that cannot be recovered, and paper documents are shredded or incinerated.
5. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
The Company does not provide users’ personal information to third parties, except where the user has consented or where required by law.
6. Outsourcing and International Transfer
The Company outsources the processing of personal information as follows to provide the Service, and some of it is processed outside Korea.
- Google LLC (United States) — Firebase Analytics (usage statistics), Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications) / Device information, app usage records, push notification token
- OpenAI, L.L.C. (United States) — Generating AI answers / Questions you enter into the AI. To maintain service quality, this may be replaced by Google LLC (Gemini) or Anthropic, PBC (United States).
- RevenueCat, Inc. (United States) — Verifying payments in previous app versions / Member identifier, purchase history (outsourcing ends when this integration ends)
International transfers occur over the network at the time you use the Service, and the information is retained until the outsourcing contract ends or you delete your account (it may be shorter depending on each provider’s policy). If you do not want your information transferred abroad, you may refrain from using the relevant features (such as AI features and notifications) or delete your account; in that case, you cannot use those features.
The Service’s servers and data are operated and stored directly by the Company in Korea.
Payments are processed by Apple and Google, and social logins by Kakao, Naver, Google, and Apple, each under their own privacy policies.
7. Your Rights and How to Exercise Them
- You may at any time request access to, correction of, deletion of, or suspension of processing of your personal information, and withdraw your consent.
- You can edit your member information or delete your account on the app’s settings screen. If you cannot use the app, you can request account deletion from the customer center (customer@newer.co.kr).
- If there are grounds to refuse a request, such as information that must be retained under law, the Company will tell you the reason.
- The Company does not accept sign-ups from children under the age of 14.
8. Automatic Collection Tools
The Company uses Firebase Analytics to automatically collect app usage records for usage statistics. They are not used for personalized advertising. You can reset your advertising identifier or limit tracking in your device settings.
9. Security Measures
